This is a traditionally hand Tied lap quilt, with pictures of
Giraffes and beautiful warm orange and gold coloured Batik fabrics. The reverse of this quilt is plain with the ties picked out in the lovely warm colours from the front.
 Tied
quilts will not have the same flat appearance as one that has been quilted in
running stitch; rather it will be soft and billowy. As I use 4 oz batting which
is very hard to quilt but makes lovely warm patchworks, I tend to use a
combination of both types.
You can Tie a quilt in different ways; the knot can be on the front or the back
of the quilt, you can make fluffy tufts, use buttons, little bells or bows to
enhance the work, really whatever pleases you.
